Job hunting

I'm looking for a job. Right now, the only places hiring are Starbucks and Petsmart. If I get the job at Starbucks, I'd have to be there at 5:30 a.m. I want to apply for a dog grooming job at Petsmart, but I don't know if they want experience or not.

So am I an adult now?

I can't believe I've had this journal for four years. I purposefully made my first post on my last day of high school. Today, I graduated from college and moved to a new apartment.
Now to find a job...

And to answer the question posed in the song, two common answers are "graduate school" and "teach high school." Guess which one I'm NOT doing?

Meme swiped from Sora

You’ve somehow acquired a magical dimension-splicing conversion van and are planning an epic cross-country road trip with your friends and fandom. First, pick ten travel buddies from anywhere -- real life, fiction, OCs, celebrities, whatever. Then answer these questions to see how cracktastic your adventure turns out to be.

I decided to stick with game characters since most of my fandoms are game-based. I may do this again with more variety.

1. Soren (Fire Emblem 9&10)
2. Raine Sage (Tales of Symphonia)
3. Mario (Mario Bros, duh)
4. Jade Curtiss (Tales of the Abyss)
5. Franziska von Karma (Phoenix Wright series)
6. Frog (Chrono Trigger)
7. (older) Link (Legend of Zelda)
8. Marth (Fire Emblem 1 & 3)
9. Zelene (my current World of Warcraft character, a human mage who serves in the army)
10. Meowth (Pokemon, going with the anime incarnation though)

1. The GPS has an obnoxious voice. What does 9 name it, and is 7 bothered by it?
Zelene is tempted to name it after her general, but decides against it and calls it "PITA" for "Pain in the Ass." It probably annoys Link, but he keeps quiet about it in his usual fashion.

2. 1, 4, 6 and 8 are all forced to share the cramped back row of seats. How do they arrange themselves?
Sitting two cynical, overly-intelligent magic users (Soren and Jade) next to each other is a bad idea, so they sit on either end with Frog and Marth between them. Frog sits next to Soren, because Jade keeps making jokes about eating or dissecting him.

3. 5 and 10 are sitting next to each other. Who gets the window seat?
Franziska has forced her way to the window seat, and she keeps threatening to toss that foolish talking cat out of said window if he doesn't shut up. She is even more irritated because there isn't enough room in the van to crack her whip.

4. 3 and 4 are invading one another’s personal space. Who gets annoyed first, and how do they deal with it?
Jade is far more easily annoyed, and the two keep threatening to light each other on fire. Mario uses a Starman to become invincible and avoid any potential attacks.

5. What habit does 8 have that might get on 2’s nerves?
Marth is too idealistic for Raine's tastes. She keeps reminding him that you sometimes have to make sacrifices to save the world. To make things worse, he fell asleep during one of her lectures on archaeology.

6. Who’s more likely to start up a round of "99 Bottles," 1 or 7?
Neither. Soren hates stupidity, and Link is too quiet.

7. Where is number 7? It's not in Sora's journal either.

8. You stop at a gas station and 5 and 3 make a snack-and-supply run. What do they bring back?
Mario brings back 10 pizzas. Franziska brings a case of bottled water and ear plugs.

9. 6 and 8 brought CDs. What’s on their playlist?
Both are medieval-ish swordsmen who can't quite figure out the CD player. When they finally do, everyone else gets sick of their collection of bardic songs.

10. Who’s the more notorious backseat driver, 2 or 10?
Although neither of them actually know how to drive, Raine is by far worse. She corrects just about every decision you make behind the wheel. Meowth just tests the driver's sanity by making obnoxious remarks and insulting his/her ability to drive.

Most annoying songs ever!

I'm collecting mp3's of the most annoying songs I can find. I'm thinking of making a CD, but I don't know what it would be good for except pissing off my family or my roommate.

So far the list includes:

the Hamsterdance Song
Crazy Frog song (the original)
"I am a Gummi Bear" by Gummibar (English version, but the German is equally annoying.)
"I Wanna Suck on your Lollipop" by DJ Alligator Project

I also thinking of "Daikenkai," possibly the most irritating DDR song ever. Any suggestions for most annoying songs in the world?

FE10 fic- Breaking the 4th Wall

Just making fun of how Ike doesn't have endings with any female characters (and how it really seems to bother some people).

"Ike put that back!' Soren lunged at him, trying to grab the papers he had just swiped from the desk. "You're not supposed to read the game script!"

"Come on, Soren. Just a little peek?"

Soren shook his head. "No, Ike. That's like cheating, don't you think?"

"If you feel that way, why do you have the script in the first place?" If Ike had been any less mature, he would have stuck out his tongue at Soren, but he refrained, knowing the fangirls would make a perverted joke about it if he did. "Where did you get that anyway?"

"Does it matter?"

"Not really, but...hey, Skrimir wants you for a moment." While Soren turned to look toward the doorway (which was really more like a tent flap), Ike snatched the script away from him.

"Skrimir's not here...hey!" Soren glared at Ike. "I can't believe I fell for that."

"I can't either, honestly. Maybe I'm working you too hard. Are you tired?"

"No. Now give that back."

"Aw, come on. I'm not going to read the whole thing. I just want to see the support endings."

Soren raised an eyebrow. "Why the support endings in particular?"

"Isn't it obvious? I want to see if I get to bang any hot babes. I mean, there's Lucia, Mia, Sigrun, Lethe... nothing here. Elincia's ok, but I don't want to be king. We'd have to keep quiet about that one."

"I don't think Geoffrey would appreciate that. Are you quite finished?"

Ike ignored him. "Mmm, nothing. What about Nephenee? I could live with that? No? Jill? Heather? Tanith? Nope. Marcia? Ilyana? Nuh-uh. This is getting ridiculous. Titania? Not even Titania. Ok, I'm getting desperate here. Aimee? No ending with even AIMEE?"

Soren looked, on the whole, rather bored. Resisting the urge to roll his eyes, he decided Ike needed his advice. "It might be easier to look up yourself," he suggested.

"Hey, you're right. That IS a good idea.....Ike, Ike, Ike..let's see..." He flipped through the pages for a moment, then scratched his head in confusion. "This can't be right."

"What can't be right?"

"I don't get any endings with girls. Not even a creepy incest one with Mist."

"No? What kind of ending DID you get? You don't die, do you?" Soren looked worried at his last suggestion.

"Wait, you really didn't read this? I only get endings with guys! One with you, and one with Ranulf. I guess that means I'm gay and so are you."

"It doesn't seem likely that we're both gay without realizing it." Soren shrugged. "Then again, if the script says so, we may as well get a head start on things." He took a deep breath, then sighed. "Ike, will you marry me?"

"Soren, I don't think that's even legal! There has to be a better solution. I know!" He grabbed Soren's pen and started scribbling furiously on the paper. "This is better."

"Let me see that. 'Ike traveled around the world, amassing a harem of hot chicks everywhere he went.'Ike, this is ridiculous." He paused a moment. "Ike, do you smell smoke?"

Ike sniffed the air. "Yeah, now that you mention it, I do. HOLY CRAP! THE TENT IS ON FIRE!" He dropped the script on the ground, grabbed Soren by the arm, and dragged him outside.

Tormod was standing just outside the tent to greet them. "Sorry about that, guys. I was practicing my magic, and I kinda missed the target."

Soren gave him a death glare. "I'll save the lecture on carelessness for later. For now, we need to focus on putting this fire out."

The three of them managed to put out the fire in time to save the tent, but unfortunately, the script caught fire when Ike dropped it. There was nothing left but a wad of charred paper.

Ike stared at it. "Great. Now what are we supposed to do?"

Soren shook his head. "I don't know either, but it looks like we won't have to get married."

Before Tormod could ask Soren what the heck he meant by that, Micaiah ran up to them, panting.
"It took awhile, but *pant* I got the spare copy of *pant* the script, like you wanted." She handed it to Soren, and the two stared at each other with a 'this sucks' kind of look.

"I guess we should start planning the wedding now," Ike mumbled to no one in particular.
Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 30 songs that play IN A BLOG ENTRY, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Bold out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING![Although I have a feeling someone will do this].

I had to skip a few because they either had no lyrics or I simply could not make them out.

1. One, two, one, two, three, FOUR! (This is hard, so I'll give a hint: It's a DDR song.)
2. Clock strikes upon the hour, and the sun begins to fade.
3. Vanish!
Bicycles and stuff

Bike riding definately beats walking. The only problem is, in addition to being sweaty and looking like somebody rubbed a balloon all over my head, now I have the added problem of bicycle grease all over my legs and an uber-wedgie from the seat. I wonder how those sorority girls manage to keep their hair looking so perfect. Either they never walk or ride anywhere, or they have a high hairspray-to-hair ratio. Probably both. I rarely dress sexy or overdose on styling products, so it's a good thing I didn't rush. I don't think I would have made it into any sororities looking the way I do right now.

Difficult classes are a confidence-killer. I had a hard enough time understanding calculus in high school, but now I have the added problem of not understanding the discussion leader either. His accent is really thick, and his handwriting is almost as bad as a doctor's. I feel like a moron because I've forgotten all the high school math I "should already know." I think I need to look into tutoring. I don't know how chemistry is going to turn out because it's too early to tell. If I do well in English lit and psychology (which I should), I'll probably have a decent GPA. Changing majors is another possibility.

I finally went by the infirmary to get that sinus infection taken care of. Hopefully I'll stop sneezing soon. I don't know why all required materials aren't listed on the book list. I've had to buy course notes for calculus, the English textbook isn't available yet, and I need another piece of equipment for chemistry. Textbooks and materials are such a ripoff!

First day of college

So summer's over and school starts again. This time, though, things are a little different. I've moved out of my mom's house, and now I'm a college student. I actually moved in on Saturday, but classes didn't start until today (Wednesday).

Here's how my first day's been so far:

7:15 AM- Alarm clock doesn't go off. Note to self: Learn how to properly program the thing.

7:30(?) til 8:00- Eat quick breakfast (cereal bar) and get dressed. Attempt to look nice, then realize I'll probably look like I've been beat up by the time the day is over. Forget to-do list I made last night. This leads to becoming unable to complete an errand due to forgetting the required paperwork.

8:00-Leave house, just miss the 8:00 bus. Note to self: Leave BEFORE 8:00.

About 8:05- Realize that I'm wearing a skirt and my legs need shaving. Hope nobody notices.

8:15- Next bus arrives 5 minutes late.

8:30-First class begins. Realize I'm not there yet. Arrive a couple of minutes late but don't miss anything major.

8:50-Realize this class isn't going to be the total piece of cake I thought it was going to be.

9:20-Class ends. Head to bookstore to buy disk I forgot to buy yesterday.

Sometime after 10:00-arrive at next class early. Read over psychology text from last class, but get distracted talking to a classmate.

10:40-Calculus begins. Arrive on time.

About 11:00-Realize just how much high school math I've forgotten.

11:30- Leave calculus class, head for lunch.

Noon- Discover long lines at Taco Bell. Realize I'm not going to be eating any time soon. Browse bookstore to kill time.

About 12:30 PM- Decide I've spent too long in the bookstore. Leave without buying anything.

About 12:35 PM- Make the best discovery a college student can make (no, not answers to the finals or a keg party): FREE FOOD! Take samples of Pepsi, hot dogs, Sobe, and a sno-cone.

About 12:45- When asking for directions, discover I've accidentally gone past the classroom building where I'm supposed to be. Whose stupid idea was it to build classrooms down an off-campus side street?

12:50-Arrive at ridiculous location off the main campus. Barely make it to classroom on time.

1:40- Finish class. Run one final errand, then search for bus stop. Wait for bus longer than the expected 10 minutes.

2:40- Finally arrive home, still not having eaten any real food and smelling somewhat like a sweaty basketball player. Feet are blistered from wearing inappropriate shoes, and I look sort of like I've been hit by a bus. Make to-do list for tomorrow/Friday.

Maybe I exaggerated a little about the shape I arrived home in, but I do need a shower, food, and a good assault on my hair with a brush.

Remind me not to stuff myself with Mexican food again. Urgh. I think I need another Rolaid. Chips + cheese dip + refried beans + quesadilla= upset stomach.

I also need to stop buying games and DVDs. I'm broke again. I picked up Kingdom Hearts on Saturday, and today I bought the new GBA Fire Emblem game. Here I am supposed to be saving for college...

Whoah, I can't believe it...I'm actually a high school graduate! I couldn't help but tear up looking at my diploma. I knew it meant I was finished with high school forever. (Contrary to popular belief, high school is not always the best time of one's life.) I was upset that my father couldn't make it, and apparently, so was my mother. She left him a rude message on his answering machine. Hope he doesn't take it out on me. The graduation ceremony was pretty much uneventful, except for a few funny moments. The microphone kept bottoming out, the high honor graduates (me included) sang the school song and a few guys thought it would be funny to sound bad on purpose, and one boy tried to walk offstage before the superintendent could turn his tassel. Talk about eagerness to leave! My hat actually fell off again, but at least it didn't hit the floor.

There was one more disappointment. I always pictured myself at the top of my class, winning all kinds of awards and getting lots of recognition. There was someone like that, but it wasn't me. I wish I could have picked up a few more scholarships. I was really hoping to be one of the ones who received a lot of scholarships, but I wasn't. The ones I did get (two of which I already knew about) will pay for most of tuition and housing. (I'm actually going to live in a scholarship house.) I'm not sure how I'm paying for books. College is sooooo expensive! At least I don't have to live in a cardboard box behind the library.

Project Graduation was fun. The whole place looked like an arcade. There was a pool table, poker and blackjack tables(no betting of actual money!), a Dance Dance Revolution-type game, and a lot of inflatable things. There was an inflatable obstacle course, a giant inflatable Twister mat (which was used more for jumping on or resting on), an inflatable boxing ring with giant boxing gloves, and some kind of inflatable thing where the object was to strap yourself in a harness and run as far as possible before the bungee cord snapped you back. Then there was the mechanical bull. No matter how many times you see it, watching your friends fall off a mechanical bull is hilarious. Food was available all night, and door prizes were awarded. I won a gift certificate for a local restaurant and $25 worth of gas. Now all I need is a car to put the gas in.

Graduation is tonight. I better get some sleep now, because I'll be up all night at Project Graduation. That may sound like some kind of program to make sure students with borderline grades finish school, but a more descriptive (and accurate) name should be "Project Make Sure the Graduates Don't Get Smashed After Graduation." Baccalaureate was last night, surprisingly short and sweet. The teachers made sure that we all knew that anyone wearing shades or open-backed shoes (later changed to allow dress shoes, just not flip flops) would not walk across the stage to receive a diploma. At graduation practice on Friday, we were also told no gum or cell phones. Wonder why they're being so tough on us? I can understand the cell phone thing, though. Would it kill people to turn the damned things off once in a while?

I'm not too happy right now. My dad called Saturday and said that he probably won't be coming. His girlfriend is in the hospital to (I think) have more tests run. I'd say something about this, but I'm afraid I'd sound selfish. I'm just really disappointed.

Oh, and excuse the kinda sucky music. It's our class song. I didn't choose it.

Ouch!

I talked my aunt (same one who was mad at me last week, now she's not) into getting an appointment to have my eyebrows waxed. Not the best idea in the world. It feels like sticking masking tape over your eyebrows and yanking as hard as possible. (Actually, that would probably be just as effective as hot wax.) So now I have a bit of a sore face. I swear the woman at the salon took more off the right eyebrow than the left. I pictured coming out of the whole thing looking like a red-masked raccoon, but I look more like I'm wearing pink eyeshadow. It hurt, but not as much as I expected. I think I'll stick to bushy brows, perhaps with the occasional plucking of stray hairs. Thank God she didn't decide I needed a bikini wax, too.

It struck me as odd that people who style hair for a living often look like they're the ones most in need of a new hairstyle. Some of the women at the salon I went to today looked like they'd overdosed on hairspay and quite possibly had a larger mass of styling product than actual hair on their heads.

While having my hair cut, I got to thinking about things. Like how it annoying it is when my grandfather asks me what I'm thinking about. Sometimes I'm honestly not thinking about anything, and sometimes I just don't want him to know. I came up with some possible responses to give next time he asks:

"Oh, I was just reviewing my plans for world domination. Say, how would you like to be my second-in-command?"

"I'm sorry? What was that again? I was in the middle of an explicit sexual fantasy and couldn't hear you."

"I was just wondering if walruses can get mange. You know, since they don't have much hair..."

"'What are you thinking about?' You know, it's bad grammar to end a sentence with a preposition."

"What are YOU thinking about?"

"That's funny. I thought you were a mind-reader and already knew that."

"Oh, nothing, I was just thinking how silly your comb-over looks." (seriously, he has one)

Not much is going on. This is looking to be a pretty slow summer. Maybe I should do something constructive, like cleaning the house or writing fanfiction. (Hey, when you have 5 or 6 unfinished stories, that IS doing something constructive). I bought an Azumanga Daioh DVD last weekend for $6.99 at Best Buy. I've never seen anime so cheap. Naturally, I had to spread the word. I still need to finish watching it.

Yep, it's been a slow day. I think my guinea pig is having more fun sleeping and running around her cage than I am. I wonder if guiena pigs get sinus headaches? I sure have one.

Dreams

I've been having some really weird dreams lately. Usually, my dreams are pretty weird, but these have been exceptionally weird. A couple of days ago, I dreamed I was escaping from Nazi Germany. For some odd reason, I kept outrunning trains and stealing vehicles (including a bulldozer.) No, I don't think they had some of the technology I dreamed about during the WW2 era (especially not laser-scanning identification machines.)

Last night, my dreams took a turn for the bizarre. Between the people in bad historical costumes and the blue soccer-playing gorilla creatures, I think I'm going nuts. Then, I dreamed about a cartoon bunny by the name of "P.K. Hunnybunch" complete with his own annoying theme song. Yep, I'm losing it.

My friend and I created this Quickkwiz.

I will not eat Skittles during church.
I will not eat Skittles during church.
I will not eat Skittles during church.
I will not...aw heck, I like Skittles too much to stop. I'll just have to be more discreet about the crunching. Had to wear my cap & gown to church, and the cap fell off twice. I may have to pin it on come graduation night. I saw my aunt afterwards, and we managed to have a civil conversation, though I could sense some tension present.

I think I'll clean the house tomorrow.

I just had to open my big fat mouth, lose my temper, and piss off my aunt. Now I'm never going to hear the end of this one. Right now, I'm just hoping to avoid her as much as possible so I don't have to listen to it. She's still going on about a fight we had three weeks ago over Spring Break. Talk about somebody who won't let the past die.

So now I'm pretty pissed at myself for being stupid enough not to keep my mouth shut. If I hadn't said anything, maybe I could have resolved the situation more easily. Why can't I learn not to be rude? Never mind what exactly happened. The whole thing is pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

9 days til graduation, and it can't come soon enough!

This is it.....

Today was my last day of high school. Is this really the end? The bittersweet end, I should say. Never have I been so happy and so sad at the same time. Everyone was crying. Sure, I'm glad to be finished with high school, but the thought that after graduation, I may never see most of these people again saddens me. After school, half the senior class went out for Mexican food. We stuffed our faces and joked around the same way we always have, almost like we were oblivious to the fact this was one of our last opportunities to spend time together.

Somehow, though, it doesn't seem like the end. An end to one thing sigifies the beginning of another.

"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." -Semisonic "Closing Time"

10 days until graduation!
